All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement supplied at the time of booking confirmation or vehicle pickup. This document outlines important terms, conditions, insurance coverage, fees, and your responsibilities related to the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria

- To hire a vehicle in Southport, drivers must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions may vary by vehicle type, with potential extra charges for those under 25. A valid driving licence suitable for the vehicle category is required, along with proof of identity and current address. Valid payment information and a security deposit must also be provided. Booking and Payments Overview
- Reservations for vehicle hire can be made via our website, by phone, or directly at our Southport office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The total payment and a security deposit are usually required at the time of vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT as applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, with secure processing through trusted payment services.
4. Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of collection, it is essential to conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be prepared and signed to document the vehicle's state. Upon returning the car, it should be in the same condition as when it was collected, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may incur additional charges. Please return the vehicle with the same fuel level as at the start of your rental; otherwise, refueling fees will apply. Late returns may attract extra charges, so notify us as soon as possible if a delay is anticipated. You will be liable for any parking tickets, traffic fines, or other charges incurred during your rental, along with a processing fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rentals come with basic third-party insurance included. Detailed information regarding coverage and excess amounts can be found in your Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be offered to lessen your financial liability. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You will be liable for damage or loss up to the insurance excess, unless additional coverage is purchased. Any damage resulting from negligence or misuse falls under your responsibility, regardless of existing insurance.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ depending on the booking type and the notice period provided. For precise details, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows could incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited uses for rental vehicle:
- Use of the vehicle for any illegal activities is prohibited. Engaging in racing, rallying, off-roading, or other dangerous pursuits is not allowed. Transporting hazardous materials is strictly forbidden. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is unacceptable. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is illegal. The vehicle must be used only for its intended purposes, and passenger or weight limits must not be exceeded. Driving outside the agreed geographical boundaries requires prior approval.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by Southport law, Car Hire will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our overall liability for any claims is capped at the rental amount paid in the past 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury arising from negligence or fraud.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the English and Welsh courts.
10. Updates to Terms
We can update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon posting on our website. Continued use of our services indicates acceptance of the revised Terms.
