Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a Rental Agreement, which you will receive at the time of booking confirmation or when collecting your vehicle. This document outlines important terms, conditions, insurance information, fees, and your obligations related to the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Rental Vehicle Requirements
- To hire a vehicle in Southport, you must be at least 21 years old, although age restrictions may differ based on the vehicle type, with extra fees applicable for drivers under 25. A valid, full driving licence suitable for the chosen vehicle category is required, along with valid identification and proof of your current address. You will also need to provide payment details and a security deposit, as well as meet any other requirements outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payments
- Reservations can be made via our website, by telephone, or directly at our Southport office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. Full payment, along with a security deposit, is generally required upon vehicle pickup. All pricing is listed in British Pounds (£) and includes VAT where relevant. We accept major credit and debit cards, with payments processed securely through trusted providers.
4. Vehicle Pick-Up and Drop-Off
- At the time of collection, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed by both parties. The vehicle should be returned in the same condition as it was collected, aside from normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charges will apply as necessary. Ensure the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as at the start of the rental; refueling fees will be charged if it is returned with less fuel. Late returns may incur extra charges, so please inform us immediately if you expect to return the vehicle later than agreed. You are responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges that arise during the rental period, along with an administration fee.
Insurance and Responsibility
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance. The Rental Agreement outlines full coverage specifics and applicable excess amounts. There may be additional insurance options available to lower your financial liability, which we encourage you to review thoroughly. You remain responsible for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess unless you opt for extra coverage. Any damage resulting from negligence or misuse, or violation of these Terms, remains your responsibility, regardless of your insurance status.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or failure to show up might incur fees.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited vehicle uses:
- The vehicle must not be used for illegal activities or purposes. This includes racing, off-roading, or any hazardous driving. Transporting dangerous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting the vehicle or allowing unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. Additionally, the vehicle should not be used for purposes it was not designed for, nor should it exceed passenger or weight limits. Driving outside the agreed geographical boundaries without prior permission is also prohibited.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
Liability Limits
To the fullest extent allowed by Southport law, Car Hire will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business related to your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims is capped at the rental amount paid in the past 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be handled exclusively by the courts of England and Wales.
Revisions to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes will take effect as soon as they are posted on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
